~ Leonard Stanley Reid DFC ~ / 29.9.1916 – 22.4.2003 / State Member for Dandenong / 1958 – 1969 / First Federal Member for Holt / 1969 – 1972

Foundation President / “For Those Who Have Less. Human Rights First For the Child”

Leonard Reid dedicated his life to the service of others as a / fighter pilot in World War 2, a state and federal parliamentarian / and as a visionary serving the cause of poor children / throughout the world. Leonard organized fifteen walking / crusades in several countries to draw / attention to the plight of these vulnerable people.

Leonard Reid was an extraordinary, untiring, generous and caring / Australian who made his home in Cranbourne and the people in the / local region his responsibility.

Leonard Reid’s story is a long and proud one. / This plaque is a testament to his work and generosity / to the people and places of this region.

The McKenzie Trail

The McKenzie Trail winds between the AJ Robinson Oval and the LS Reid Oval, linking Doveton to Eumemmerring.  Wooden signage at the Oak Street end and another wooden sign and plaque at the Butler Street end mark the trail.

McKenzie Trail

This trail was officially opened by / the Mayor, Cr Graham Smith / on the 31st August 2002

Fred and Eileen McKenzie were early residents of / Eumemmerring. They resided in Butler Street from / circa 1955 until 1984. During that time, they, along with / a group of other new residents, strove to have water / and electricity connected, roads and footpaths sealed, a path built including a bridge over the creek, to / provide access for the people of Eumemmerring to the / shops and community facilities of Doveton.
