Henry Joseph Moran was apprenticed to Mr. Guilfoyle, director of the / Melbourne Botanic Gardens at the age of fifteen. When he died at the age / of 38 in 1886, he was foreman of the Gardens in charge of glasshouses. /
This Reserve was once owned by Mr. Moran who planted the large trees. / Mr. Moran was responsible for laying out the Dandenong Gardens and / many of the old trees in the Hampton Park district are believed to have / been planted by him. / Descendants of Mr. Moran still live in the district.
